Environmental science website - Construction delayed due to distractions ;)

I have a goal of creating my own website with information about environmental issues. My hope is to use this website as part of a pitch to add an environmental science class to a school. I think if I do a good enough job with this website, it will help my chances. I've already updated my c.v. and created a cover letter. So this is the last thing I want to do. It feels like it's taking longer than it should take me to construct this website, because there is a lot of information to add and there are a lot of distractions during the day.

For example, yesterday there was a "parent representative" meeting. I'm glad to be able to participate in activities at the school. I recently started attending the weekly garden meet-ups too. This is on top of the coffee meet-ups that we have too.  I notice a lot of the same faces in various activities and that's nice. I'm hopeful to make closer friends. Right now we feel more like acquaintances, but maybe time will change things. I also started attending the "international women's club" meetings. So I've been trying to do a lot to stay socially active. It's easy to feel isolated in a foreign country, but fortunately, there are a lot of English-speaking clubs in Germany too.

With my husband's birthday coming up soon, I was also trying to research how to make a cake from scratch yesterday. When I lived in the U.S., this was easy. I could buy a box cake and expect it to turn out reasonably well, but the cakes here in Germany don't taste very good, in my opinion. So I had the idea of just making a cake from scratch. That seems possible. Being in Germany, though, means that I not only have to translate every single ingredient on the list, but I also have to figure out what ingredients are actually available in Germany and if a particular ingredient isn't available in Germany, what is an adequate substitute for it? This took a lot more time to figure all this out than I thought it would. I spent 2.5 hours working on this list, but it's complete now.

I already bought his birthday gift, so I'm good there.

Okay, time to get back to making this website, I guess!

Other things on my to-do list after I've made some progress on making this website:

1) Create an intro/bio page for this website.

2) Re-read "His Dark Materials" - It's been 15 years since I've read it, and with Lyra reading the books and wanting to talk to me about them now, I feel like I should re-read them.

3) Clean up. That's always on the to-do list in some shape or form!

4) Exercise. This always gets shoved off the to-do list due to lack of time. I'm hoping to change that!
